It was a busy day today, so I didn’t make any changes.
I went to a monthly poetry meetup called “Creative Voices” here in the DC area, so I decided to read the current raw poem and ask for their input.

This is not the best time to be
Contemplating the meaning of life
It’s 32 degrees out and the earth
Is frozen beneath my feet and
This weight on my shoulders [...]

Pressing me down
Pressing me forward
Worrying me deep

It’s day two of the Slam Idol Open Writing Challenge and I now have a general idea of the overall theme / storyline of my poem!

I got away from work in the wee morning hours and decided to audioblog about exercising my “poetic muscles”, as Thom Ingram says, in preparation for the Open Writing Challenge at Slam Idol.
It felt good to write again…
Simon over at The Slam Idol Podcast has started a Writing Challenge for an upcoming contest. He’s invited six poets, including myself, to audioblog their creative process as they prepare a poem. This is based off of the challenge Simon and I participated in a few months back.
